CJJ INVITES EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATIONS

CJJ is now accepting nominations (including self-nominations) for new and continuing members of the CJJ Executive Board, CJJ’s central governance body.

The dedicated and wise leaders serving on CJJ’s Executive Board are key to the organization’s success and effectiveness. Executive Board members represent the interests of SAGs, state staff and other stakeholders, set CJJ’s organizational strategy, mission and goals, oversee the financial and legal affairs of CJJ, and ensure the steady and sustainable growth of the organization. All positions are established as a matter of CJJ’s Bylaws and commence on July 1, 2012. All nominations are due May 25, 2012.

The positions to be elected by the Council of SAGs on Sunday, June 24, 2012, include:
  • Treasurer/Secretary for a two-year, renewable term. Must be a member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.
  • National Youth Chair (term limited to two years, must be under 24 at time of election and member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.)
  • Ethnic and Cultural Diversity Chair for a two-year, renewable term. Must be a member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.
Positions to be elected in the Regional Meetings on June 23, 2012, include:
  • Northeast Regional Chair for two years in a renewal term. Must be a member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.
  • Southern Regional Chair for two years in a renewal term. Must be a member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.
  • Midwest Regional Chair for two years in a renewal term. Must be a member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.
  • Western Regional Chair for two years in a renewal term. Must be a member of a SAG in good standing as a member of CJJ.

Also on June 23, 2012, State Juvenile Justice Specialists will elect the CJJ National Juvenile Justice Specialists Representative for a two-year, renewal term. Click here for a nomination/application for this board position. Must be a State Juvenile Justice Specialist from a state that is in good standing as a CJJ member.

In addition to the above, the CJJ Executive Board positions that will continue under their current terms into the next year, unless vacated, include: National Chair, Immediate Past National Chair, National Juvenile Justice Network (NJJN) Representative, the National DMC Coordinator and Regional Representatives for the Northeast, South, Midwest and West.
