CJJ | National Resolution Regarding Trying and Sentencing Youth Offenders in Adult Criminal Court

Every day more than 21,000 youth are confined in adult corrections facilities.

Every year more than a quarter million youth under the age of 18 are tried and sentenced in adult criminal court.*

The Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ) has crafted a national resolution to generate widespread acceptance and increased action for change. The resolution was developed in cooperation with the American Bar Association Juvenile Justice Center, the Child Welfare League of America, the Children’s Defense Fund, the National Assembly, the National Mental Health Association and Center for Children's Law and Policy.

View the text of the National Resolution, as well as an updated list of signatories, at the Campaign 4 Youth Justice Web site [1] here.
