CJJ Letter in Support of S. 3155 as Introduced

On June 18, 2008, U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Ranking Member Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) introduced Senate Bill 3155, bi-partisan legislation to reauthorize the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA). To view a copy of the bill, go to http://thomas.loc.gov/ and search for “S. 3155.”

S. 3155 is responsive to many of the suggestions and positions held by CJJ, as represented in the CJJ Platform on Reauthorization of the JJDPA, and moves the entire juvenile justice community in the right direction.

Upon recommendation by the CJJ Government Relations Committee, on July 16, 2008, the CJJ Council of State Advisory Groups (SAGs) submitted a formal letter in support of S. 3155, which was forwarded to Chairman Patrick Leahy and the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
